Installation is required. Special delivery requirements, such as the need for tail-lift trucks and additional labour and installation for large equipment and hazardous material (Hazmat) packaging, will attract additional freight charges (quoted separately).
An Award-Winning Concept* - The Fit-For-Purpose AUXO V® Benchtop Bioreactors
AUXO V® stirred-tank bioreactors were designed for the next generation of bioprocessing: affordable, high-precision machines, fit for the individual purpose and easy to operate for all users regardless of their level of experience. Run your bioprocesses with unparalleled convenience - easy like an app, remotely from anywhere.
Based on a systematic analysis of all available bioreactor architectures, the AUXO V® series was designed to the essentials and optimised for individual applications to maximise efficiency, forming the basis of the cost-optimised fit-for-purpose concept.
The most popular benchtop systems comprise glass vessels of 2L, 3L, 7L and 15L. Additional sizes for benchtop operation (including single-use vessels) as well as 316L stainless-steel bioreactors (above 15L) for lab use, pilot-scale and industrial bioprocessing are available on request.
AUXO V® bioreactors are produced by The Cultivated B, a German-Canadian biomanufacturing company.

Stirred-Tank Bioreactors: A Versatile Centrepiece of Modern Bioprocessing
Stirred-tank bioreactors (STRs) are a fundamental piece of equipment in modern bioprocessing, widely used for cultivating microorganisms, mammalian cells, and fungi under precisely controlled conditions. Their scalability and adaptability to diverse cell types, process modes, and production needs make them well-suited for both research applications and industrial-scale biomanufacturing. STRs play a central role in pharmaceuticals, industrial biotechnology, food and beverage production, nutraceuticals, and environmental applications, enabling the production of vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, biofuels, enzymes, and other relevant bioproducts. As biotechnology advances, STRs will continue to drive innovation, supporting emerging fields such as the alternative protein sector, where technologies like cultivated meat and precision fermentation enable the production of animal-free proteins and other key food ingredients.
Control System
The control system monitors and regulates key process parameters such as agitation, aeration, temperature, and pH to maintain optimal culture conditions. This is achieved through automated feedback loops, which continuously adjust settings based on real-time sensor data, ensuring stability, reproducibility, and efficiency in bioprocessing.
Vessel
The vessel serves as the primary containment unit for the culture medium, cells, and essential nutrients. It is typically cylindrical with a rounded or conical bottom to facilitate efficient mixing, heat transfer, and drainage. Constructed from borosilicate glass or stainless steel, the vessel is designed for easy sterilisation via autoclaving or steam-in-place (SIP) to minimise contamination risks.
Agitation System
The agitation system ensures uniform mixing of cells, nutrients, and gases, preventing sedimentation and improving mass transfer. It consists of a motor-driven shaft connected to impellers, which are selected based on mixing requirements, oxygenation needs, and the shear sensitivity of the cultured cells.
Gas Control
The gas control system is essential for maintaining optimal conditions in both aerobic and anaerobic bioprocesses. In aerobic systems, air or pure oxygen is introduced through spargers to support cellular metabolism and remove excess CO₂, reducing acidification and maintaining pH stability. In anaerobic processes, gases like nitrogen or carbon dioxide create an oxygen-free environment and help regulate pH. Agitation enhances gas-liquid mass transfer, ensuring uniform distribution.
Temperature Control
Maintaining an optimal temperature is essential for cell viability, metabolic activity, and overall process efficiency in bioreactors. Temperature regulation is typically achieved through jacketed vessels or internal heating/cooling coils that circulate thermal fluids, ensuring a stable environment for microbial or cell growth. In smaller-scale systems, external temperature control options such as heating blankets or recirculating water baths can also be used.
Sensors
Modern stirred-tank bioreactors use real-time sensors to monitor and regulate key parameters, ensuring stability and reproducibility. Temperature, pH, and dissolved oxygen sensors are typically standard, as they are essential for maintaining optimal culture conditions. Depending on the application, additional sensors can be valuable. Some parameters, such as biomass concentration and metabolite levels, are often measured offline through periodic sampling for additional process insights.
