The Petrifilm® BC Count Plate is a selective and differential, sample-ready culture medium for enumerating the Bacillus cereus sensu lato group, including B. cytotoxicus, without the need for confirmation testing. The plate combines proprietary nutrients, a cold-water-soluble gelling agent, chromogenic indicators, and a lecithinase substrate, delivering readable results in as little as 20 hours.
As a pre-prepared medium, the plate removes the need for agar pouring, drying steps, or antibiotic handling before incubation, streamlining day-to-day quantitative indicator testing. Bacillus cereus is widely distributed in soil and is a relevant risk indicator across a broad range of food and beverage matrices.
