Memmert Peltier-Cooled Incubator, IPPeco Series
Refrigerant-free cooled incubation from 0 °C to +70 °C, across nine chamber sizes from 32 to 2 140 litres
The Memmert IPPeco is a range of Peltier-cooled incubators for microbiological and food science applications requiring precise temperature control both above and below room temperature. Operating without a compressor or refrigerant, the series covers a temperature range of 0 °C to +70 °C across nine chamber sizes from 32 to 2 140 litres.
Advanced Peltier Technology integrates fans directly into the Peltier elements, enabling rapid energy transfer and tight temperature homogeneity across the working chamber. The interior is sealed from the surroundings; condensation during cooling occurs on the Peltier element outside the working chamber rather than inside, reducing the risk of sample drying and protecting cultures from condensate exposure. The absence of a compressor means the IPPeco operates with low vibration and lower noise than equivalent refrigerant-cooled incubators, making it well suited to vibration-sensitive biological samples.
Each size is available as a base model with SingleDISPLAY ControlCOCKPIT, or as a "plus" variant with TwinDISPLAY, which supports temperature ramp programming and documentation via AtmoCONTROL software.

Q: What is the temperature range of the Memmert IPP260eco?
A: The Memmert IPP260eco has a setting temperature range of 0°C to +70°C. Without the optional light module, its working range extends from 0°C to +70°C, with the lowest achievable temperature requiring a minimum difference of 20 K below ambient temperature.
Q: What is the internal capacity of the IPP260eco?
A: The IPP260eco provides an internal chamber volume of 256 litres. Its stainless-steel interior measures 640 × 800 × 500 mm (W × H × D), with usable depth reduced by 32 mm for the Peltier fan.
Q: How does the IPP260eco heat and cool?
A: The IPP260eco uses Advanced Peltier Technology for heating and cooling. The energy-saving Peltier system is integrated into the rear of the incubator and operates according to the heat-pump principle.
Q: Does the IPP260eco use a compressor or refrigerant?
A: No. The IPP260eco is a compressor-free and refrigerant-free cooled incubator, using Peltier technology instead of a conventional refrigeration system.
Q: What controller does the IPP260eco use?
A: The incubator uses the SingleDISPLAY ControlCOCKPIT, an adaptive multifunctional digital PID microprocessor controller with a high-definition TFT colour display.
Q: What is the temperature setting accuracy of the IPP260eco?
A: The IPP260eco has a temperature setting accuracy of 0.1°C. Temperature measurement is provided by one Pt100 DIN Class A sensor in a 4-wire circuit.
Q: How is air circulated inside the IPP260eco?
A: The IPP260eco uses forced ventilation by a Peltier fan. Fans integrated with the Peltier elements support rapid energy transfer and even temperature distribution throughout the working chamber.
Q: How does the IPP260eco handle condensation during cooling?
A: The working chamber is sealed from the surroundings so that condensation generated during cooling forms on the Peltier element outside the working chamber. This helps protect samples from condensate exposure and reduces the risk of sample drying.
Q: What applications is the IPP260eco suitable for?
A: Typical applications include microbiological analyses, bacterial count determination, cultivation above and below room temperature, beer stability accelerated ageing tests, shelf-life testing of dairy products, and food science research and quality assurance.
Q: Is the IPP260eco suitable for vibration-sensitive samples?
A: Yes. Its compressor-free Peltier design provides low-vibration and lower-noise operation compared with conventional refrigerant-cooled incubators, which can benefit vibration-sensitive biological samples.
Q: Can the IPP260eco be used with an illumination module?
A: Yes. The optional P1 light module can be used with the IPP260eco. When operating with illumination, the specified working temperature range is +10°C to +40°C.
Q: What is the difference between the IPP260eco and IPP260ecoplus?
A: The IPP260eco is the base model with SingleDISPLAY ControlCOCKPIT. The IPP260ecoplus is the TwinDISPLAY “plus” variant, which adds temperature ramp programming and expanded documentation capabilities through AtmoCONTROL software with an integrated data logger.
Q: Does the IPP260eco support AtmoCONTROL software?
A: Yes. AtmoCONTROL can be used for reading, managing, and organising data logger information via the Ethernet interface. A temporary trial version can be downloaded, and a USB stick containing AtmoCONTROL is available as an accessory on demand.
Q: What timer functions are available on the IPP260eco?
A: The controller includes a digital backwards counter with a target time adjustable from 1 minute to 99 days. The SetpointWAIT function prevents process time from starting until the selected temperature has been reached.
Q: Can the IPP260eco be calibrated at different temperatures?
A: Yes. The controller supports calibration at three freely selectable temperature values. A works calibration certificate covering +10°C, +25°C, and +40°C is included as standard.
Q: What safety features are included with the IPP260eco?
A: The IPP260eco includes an adjustable electronic overtemperature monitor, a mechanical temperature limiter, and an autodiagnostic system for fault analysis.
Q: What type of doors does the IPP260eco have?
A: The incubator features a fully insulated stainless-steel outer door with two-point compression locking and an inner glass door, allowing visual inspection while helping limit disturbance to the chamber environment.
Q: How many shelves are supplied with the IPP260eco?
A: The IPP260eco is supplied with two electropolished stainless-steel grids. The chamber can accommodate a maximum of nine internals.
Q: What is the maximum load capacity of the IPP260eco?
A: The chamber has a maximum total loading capacity of 200 kg. Each internal shelf or grid can support up to 20 kg.
Q: What are the external dimensions of the IPP260eco?
A: The IPP260eco measures 824 × 1 183 × 655 mm (W × H × D). Installation planning should also allow an additional 56 mm depth for the door handle and 111 mm for the rear Peltier element.
Q: How much does the IPP260eco weigh?
A: The incubator has a net weight of approximately 99 kg and a gross packaged weight of approximately 138 kg.
Q: How is the IPP260eco installed?
A: The IPP260eco is designed for installation on fixed feet. Adequate ventilation clearance must be maintained around the unit.
Q: What electrical supply does the IPP260eco require?
A: The incubator is available for 230 V or 115 V, 50/60 Hz electrical supplies and has an approximate electrical load of 600 W.
Q: What installation clearances are required around the IPP260eco?
A: Memmert specifies at least 15 cm clearance behind the incubator, 20 cm above it, and 5 cm at the sides from walls or neighbouring equipment.
Q: What ambient conditions are suitable for the IPP260eco?
A: The specified ambient temperature range is 16°C to 40°C, with a maximum relative humidity of 70%, non-condensing. The maximum installation altitude is 2 000 m above sea level.
