Memmert Peltier-Cooled Incubator, IPPeco Series
Refrigerant-free cooled incubation from 0 °C to +70 °C, across nine chamber sizes from 32 to 2 140 litres
The Memmert IPPeco is a range of Peltier-cooled incubators for microbiological and food science applications requiring precise temperature control both above and below room temperature. Operating without a compressor or refrigerant, the series covers a temperature range of 0 °C to +70 °C across nine chamber sizes from 32 to 2 140 litres.
Advanced Peltier Technology integrates fans directly into the Peltier elements, enabling rapid energy transfer and tight temperature homogeneity across the working chamber. The interior is sealed from the surroundings; condensation during cooling occurs on the Peltier element outside the working chamber rather than inside, reducing the risk of sample drying and protecting cultures from condensate exposure. The absence of a compressor means the IPPeco operates with low vibration and lower noise than equivalent refrigerant-cooled incubators, making it well suited to vibration-sensitive biological samples.
Each size is available as a base model with SingleDISPLAY ControlCOCKPIT, or as a "plus" variant with TwinDISPLAY, which supports temperature ramp programming and documentation via AtmoCONTROL software.

Q: What is the temperature range of the Memmert IPP1060eco?
A: The Memmert IPP1060eco has a setting temperature range of 0°C to +70°C. Its working temperature range extends from 0°C to +70°C, with the minimum operating temperature requiring a temperature difference of at least 20 K below ambient.
Q: What is the capacity of the IPP1060eco incubator?
A: The IPP1060eco provides a large 1 060-litre internal chamber volume. Its stainless-steel interior measures 1 040 × 1 200 × 850 mm (W × H × D), with the usable depth reduced by 32 mm for the Peltier fan.
Q: How does the Memmert IPP1060eco heat and cool?
A: The incubator uses Advanced Peltier Technology for both heating and cooling. The Peltier heating/cooling system is integrated into the rear of the unit and operates according to the heat-pump principle. It does not require a conventional refrigeration compressor or refrigerant.
Q: Does the IPP1060eco use refrigerant?
A: No. The IPP1060eco is a refrigerant-free, compressor-free cooled incubator. Its Peltier-based design provides heating and cooling without conventional refrigerants.
Q: What type of controller does the IPP1060eco use?
A: The IPP1060eco uses the SingleDISPLAY ControlCOCKPIT, an adaptive multifunctional digital PID microprocessor controller with a high-definition TFT colour display.
Q: What is the temperature setting accuracy of the IPP1060eco?
A: Temperature can be set in 0.1°C increments. The incubator uses one Pt100 DIN Class A temperature sensor in a 4-wire circuit for temperature measurement and control.
Q: How is air circulated inside the IPP1060eco?
A: The IPP1060eco uses forced ventilation generated by the Peltier fan. Fans integrated with the Peltier system support energy transfer and even temperature distribution throughout the working chamber.
Q: How does the IPP1060eco manage condensation during cooling?
A: The working chamber is sealed from the surroundings, and condensation generated during cooling forms on the Peltier element outside the working chamber rather than around the samples. This design helps protect cultures from condensate exposure and minimises the risk of sample drying.
Q: Is the IPP1060eco suitable for microbiology applications?
A: Yes. The IPPeco series is designed for applications including microbiological analyses, bacterial count determination and cultivation above or below room temperature. Its precise temperature control also makes it suitable for a range of food science and quality assurance applications.
Q: What are typical applications for the Memmert IPP1060eco?
A: Typical applications include microbiological analyses, bacterial count determination, cultivation above and below room temperature, beer stability accelerated ageing tests, shelf-life testing of dairy products, and food science research and quality assurance.
Q: Is the IPP1060eco suitable for vibration-sensitive samples?
A: Yes. Because the IPP1060eco operates without a refrigeration compressor, its design provides lower vibration and noise than conventional refrigerant-cooled systems. This can be advantageous when working with vibration-sensitive biological samples.
Q: What is the difference between the IPP1060eco and IPP1060ecoplus?
A: The IPP1060eco is the base model and uses SingleDISPLAY ControlCOCKPIT. The IPP1060ecoplus is the TwinDISPLAY “plus” variant, adding temperature ramp programming and expanded programme documentation through Memmert AtmoCONTROL software with an integrated data logger.
Q: Does the IPP1060eco support AtmoCONTROL software?
A: Yes. AtmoCONTROL can be used for reading, managing and organising data logger information via the Ethernet interface. A temporary trial version can be downloaded, while a USB stick containing AtmoCONTROL software is available as an accessory on demand.
Q: What timer functions are available on the IPP1060eco?
A: The controller includes a digital backwards counter with a target time adjustable from 1 minute to 99 days. The SetpointWAIT function can prevent the process time from starting until the selected chamber temperature has been reached.
Q: Can the IPP1060eco be calibrated at different temperatures?
A: Yes. The controller supports calibration at three freely selectable temperature values. A works calibration certificate for +10°C, +25°C and +40°C is also supplied as standard.
Q: What safety systems are included with the IPP1060eco?
A: Temperature protection includes an adjustable electronic overtemperature monitor and a mechanical temperature limiter. An autodiagnostic system is also provided for fault analysis.
Q: What doors are fitted to the IPP1060eco?
A: The incubator has fully insulated stainless-steel outer doors with two-point compression locking and inner glass doors. The glass doors permit visual inspection of samples while helping limit changes to the chamber environment during observation.
Q: How many shelves are included with the IPP1060eco?
A: The IPP1060eco is supplied with two electropolished stainless-steel grids. The chamber can accommodate a maximum of 14 internals.
Q: What is the maximum loading capacity of the IPP1060eco?
A: The chamber has a maximum total loading capacity of 200 kg. The maximum permitted load per internal shelf or grid is 20 kg.
Q: What are the external dimensions of the IPP1060eco?
A: The incubator measures 1 224 × 1 720 × 1 005 mm (W × H × D). Installation planning should also account for an additional 56 mm of depth for the door handle and 111 mm for the rear Peltier element.
Q: How much does the Memmert IPP1060eco weigh?
A: The IPP1060eco has a net weight of approximately 248 kg. Its gross shipping weight, including the carton, is approximately 327 kg.
Q: Is the IPP1060eco fitted with castors?
A: Yes. The large-capacity IPP1060eco is installed on lockable castors, allowing it to be positioned and then secured at its installation location.
Q: What electrical supply does the IPP1060eco require?
A: The incubator is available for 230 V or 115 V, 50/60 Hz electrical supplies. Its electrical load is approximately 1 300 W.
Q: What installation clearances are required for the IPP1060eco?
A: Memmert specifies a minimum clearance of 15 cm behind the incubator, 20 cm above it and 5 cm at each side from walls or neighbouring equipment. These clearances should be considered together with the cabinet and Peltier element dimensions when planning the installation area.
Q: What ambient conditions are suitable for the IPP1060eco?
A: The specified installation environment is 16°C to 40°C with a maximum relative humidity of 70%, non-condensing. The maximum installation altitude is 2 000 m above sea level. The unit is specified for overvoltage category II and pollution degree 2.
Q: How should the IPP1060eco be transported?
A: The incubator must be transported upright. Its approximate packaged dimensions are 1 370 × 1 970 × 1 300 mm, with a gross carton weight of approximately 327 kg.
Q: What certifications does the Memmert IPP1060eco have?
