Memmert Constant Climate Chamber, HPPeco Series
Peltier-cooled stability chambers for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, and environmental testing; refrigerant-free, from 0 °C to +70 °C
The Memmert HPPeco is a range of constant climate chambers using Advanced Peltier Technology for simultaneous temperature and humidity control. The series operates without a compressor or refrigerant, which results in approximately 90 % lower energy consumption in continuous operation compared to compressor-cooled alternatives.
Temperature control runs from 0 °C to +70 °C. Active humidification and dehumidification spans 10–90 % rh, with a micro-dosing pump for rapid, precise humidification and a Peltier-based dehumidification system for stable control at low relative humidity levels. The range is optimised for pharmaceutical stability studies according to ICH guideline Q1A, as well as stability testing for cosmetics and food, environmental testing, and materials testing.
Seven chamber sizes from 108 to 2 140 litres provide for applications ranging from small-batch stability studies to walk-in scale testing environments. All models use the TwinDISPLAY ControlCOCKPIT and are compatible with AtmoCONTROL software for programming and documentation. An optional illumination module (Option P1) extends the range to photo-stability and biological cultivation applications. A compressed air-drying option (Option C9) is recommended for applications where the chamber load emits moisture, such as plant growth.
Note on moisture-emitting loads: For applications where the chamber load releases moisture during testing, such as plant cultivation, Memmert recommends the C9 compressed air drying option to maintain stable and precise humidity control.

Q: What is the temperature range of the Memmert HPP110eco?
A: The HPP110eco has a setting temperature range of 0°C to +70°C without humidity and +5°C to +70°C with humidity control. In operation without illumination, the achievable lower temperature is dependent on ambient conditions and must be at least 20 K below ambient temperature. With the optional P1 light module, the working temperature range is +15°C to +40°C.
Q: What humidity range can the HPP110eco control?
A: The chamber provides active humidity control from 10% to 90% relative humidity (rh), with a humidity setting accuracy of 0.5% rh.
Q: What is the internal capacity of the HPP110eco?
A: The HPP110eco has an internal chamber volume of 108 litres. Its stainless-steel interior measures 560 × 480 × 400 mm (W × H × D), with usable depth reduced by 32 mm for the Peltier fan.
Q: How does the HPP110eco heat and cool the chamber?
A: The HPP110eco uses Advanced Peltier Technology for both heating and cooling. Unlike conventional compressor-cooled climate chambers, it does not require a compressor or refrigerant. The Peltier system is integrated into the rear of the chamber and operates according to the heat-pump principle.
Q: Does the HPP110eco require refrigerant?
A: No. The HPP110eco’s Peltier heating and cooling system operates without refrigerant and without a compressor. This design also contributes to low-maintenance and quiet operation.
Q: How energy efficient is the Memmert HPPeco series?
A: Memmert states that the HPPeco series can achieve approximately 90% lower energy consumption in continuous operation compared with compressor-cooled alternatives. The HPP110eco has an electrical load of approximately 420 W.
Q: How does the HPP110eco control humidity?
A: Humidification is provided by a hot steam generator, with distilled water supplied from an external tank using a self-priming pump. Dehumidification is performed by a Peltier-based cold trap, enabling active control across the specified 10–90% rh range.
Q: Is a water tank supplied with the HPP110eco?
A: Yes. A water tank and connection hose are included as standard. The humidity system uses distilled water drawn from the external tank by a self-priming pump.
Q: Is the HPP110eco suitable for pharmaceutical stability testing?
A: Yes. The HPPeco range is optimised for pharmaceutical stability studies according to ICH guideline Q1A. Its controlled temperature and humidity capabilities also make it suitable for stability testing of cosmetics and food, as well as environmental and materials testing.
Q: Can the HPP110eco be used for plant cultivation or photostability applications?
A: Yes, when configured with the optional P1 illumination module. This option supports applications such as photostability testing, seed germination, plant cultivation and insect breeding. The working temperature range with illumination is +15°C to +40°C. For moisture-emitting loads such as plants, Memmert recommends the optional C9 compressed-air drying system for more stable humidity control.
Q: What controller does the HPP110eco use?
A: The HPP110eco uses Memmert’s TwinDISPLAY ControlCOCKPIT, an adaptive multifunctional digital PID microprocessor controller with two high-definition TFT colour displays. Temperature, relative humidity, programme time and other operating parameters can be configured through the controller.
Q: Can temperature and humidity programmes be created for the HPP110eco?
A: Yes. The HPP110eco works with Memmert AtmoCONTROL software for programming, managing and transferring temperature and humidity programmes. Programmes can be transferred through Ethernet or USB.
Q: What communication interfaces are available?
A: The HPP110eco provides Ethernet LAN and USB interfaces, supporting programme transfer, documentation and data management in combination with AtmoCONTROL software.
Q: Is a calibration certificate supplied with the HPP110eco?
A: Yes. A standard works calibration certificate is included, covering calibration points of +25°C / 60% rh and +40°C / 75% rh. The controller also supports calibration at three freely selectable values each for temperature and humidity.
Q: What temperature sensors are used in the HPP110eco?
A: The chamber uses two Pt100 temperature sensors, DIN Class A, in a 4-wire circuit. They provide mutual monitoring and can take over functions if an error occurs.
Q: What is the maximum load capacity of the chamber?
A: The HPP110eco has a maximum total chamber load of 150 kg. Each internal shelf or grid can carry up to 20 kg, subject to correct load distribution.
Q: How many shelves are supplied with the HPP110eco?
A: The chamber is supplied with two electropolished stainless-steel grids. The interior can accommodate a maximum of five internals.
Q: Does the HPP110eco have an inner glass door?
A: Yes. The chamber has a fully insulated stainless-steel outer door with two-point locking and an inner glass door. The glass door allows visual inspection of samples while helping reduce temperature and humidity disturbance during inspection.
Q: Does the chamber have an access port for external sensors?
A: Yes. A moisture-tight 18 mm silicone entry port is positioned in the side panel at centre left. It can be closed with the supplied silicone stopper when not in use.
Q: What are the external dimensions and weight of the HPP110eco?
A: The chamber measures 745 × 864 × 555 mm (W × H × D) and has a net weight of approximately 64 kg. Installation planning should also allow an additional 56 mm depth for the door handle and 111 mm for the rear Peltier element.
Q: What electrical supply does the HPP110eco require?
A: The HPP110eco is available for 230 V or 115 V, 50/60 Hz electrical supplies, with an approximate electrical load of 420 W. The appropriate voltage configuration should be confirmed when ordering.
Q: What clearance is required around the chamber during installation?
A: Memmert specifies at least 15 cm clearance behind the chamber, 20 cm above it and 5 cm at the sides from walls or neighbouring equipment. The specified installation environment is 16°C to 40°C, with maximum relative humidity of 70% non-condensing and an installation altitude of up to 2,000 m above sea level.
Q: What certification does the Memmert HPP110eco carry?
A: The Memmert HPP110eco is CE certified.
