Need a customised solution?
Optional accessories are available for purchase separately. If your order needs a customised configuration, our technical specialists will follow up with full details before your order is finalised. Contact us via the enquiry form or sales@lasec.com.
Installation, training and special delivery
Some products require installation, training, or special delivery (such as tail-lift trucks, extra labour, or hazardous material packaging). If your order needs this, we'll contact you with the additional cost before dispatch, so your final invoice may differ from the listed price.
Ordering from outside South Africa
Online ordering is currently limited to South African customers, but our full range is still available. Log an enquiry or email international@lasec.com and our international sales team will assist you through our traditional sales channels.
The BestScope BS-2080F is a trinocular LED fluorescence microscope built on an infinite optical system. It uses an LED as the fluorescent light source in place of conventional mercury lamps, offering a rated operational life of 50 000 hours and eliminating the need for a cooling system or warm-up period. Two built-in fluorescence filter cubes support blue and green excitation channels, with additional filter options available for extended applications.
The BS-2080F is designed for fluorescence-based analysis of biological samples and is used to study: chemical absorption within cells, cellular transport mechanisms, distribution of biological and chemical compounds, and intracellular localisation and positioning studies. It is widely used in disease examination, immunological and immune diagnostics, clinical laboratories, cell biology research, molecular biology studies, life science laboratories, and universities and research institutions

Q: What magnification range does the BS-2080F cover?
A: The instrument covers 40× to 1 000× magnification, achieved through a WF10×/22 mm eyepiece paired with 4×, 10×, 40×, and 100× infinite plan achromatic objectives.
Q: What is the benefit of the LED fluorescence light source over a conventional mercury lamp?
A: The LED source has a rated operational life of 50 000 hours and does not require a cooling system, a warm-up period, or a protective device, unlike mercury lamp systems. The microscope is ready for use immediately on power-up.
Q: Which fluorescence filter cubes are included as standard?
A: Two filter cubes are supplied: a blue excitation cube (BP460–490, DM505 dichroic mirror, BA515 barrier filter) and a green excitation cube (BP510–550, DM570 dichroic mirror, BA590 barrier filter). Additional filter cubes are available as optional accessories for extended applications.
Q: What are the LED excitation wavelengths?
A: Blue excitation is delivered by a 3 W LED at 465–476 nm. A 3 W LED for green excitation (525–530 nm) is also fitted as standard.
Q: Can the objective set be expanded beyond the standard configuration?
A: Yes. Standard objectives are 4×, 10×, 40×, and 100× infinite plan achromatic. Optional objectives include 20× and 60× infinite plan achromatic, and an infinite plan fluorescent set (4×, 10×, 20×, 40×, 100×).
Q: Can a camera be attached to this microscope?
A: The trinocular viewing head supports an optional photo adapter for Nikon or Canon DSLR cameras, as well as C-mount video adapters (1× and 0.5×). These are optional accessories, not included as standard.
Q: What is the transmitted light source used for routine (non-fluorescent) viewing?
A: External Köhler illumination with an aspherical collector, using a 6 V/30 W halogen lamp.
Q: Is immersion oil supplied with the instrument?
A: Yes, fluorescent-free immersion oil is included as standard.
Q: What applications is the BS-2080F suited to?
A: Cell biology, disease examination, immune diagnosis, life sciences, intracellular localisation, chemical distribution in cells, and fluorescent labelling.
