Lasec®, in association with global development organisations working on refining sample collection in remote locations, established the Lasec® Diagnostics Kit facility in 2006.
Packaging of Dried Blood Spot (DBS) Kits fast became an integral part of the Lasec® Group’s daily activities to meet the growing need for standardised collection and easy transportation of biological samples.
Our range has developed to include a variety of Single Use Sample Collection Kits such as; HIV Dried Blood Spot Kit for Early Infant Diagnosis (EID) and Viral Load Testing (VL) using whole blood or plasma, HIV POC Collection Kits for EID and VL testing, HCV DBS kits for use with whole blood and HPV Kit for use with tissue samples.
In addition, to facilitate the timeous processing of samples in the laboratory, Consumable Bundles consisting of products essential to the lab-based diagnostic test procedures were introduced.
Lasec® sources components directly from reputable manufacturers around the globe. We currently stock in excess of one hundred different components and have access to many more, allowing for full customization of sample collection kits to meet the needs of our customers’ who range from Ministries of Health, universities and non-profit organisations to other interest groups worldwide.
Our kits are assembled in accordance with the Medicines and Related Substances Act 101 of 1965 in a facility that is registered with the South African Health Product Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) and holds certifications for ISO EN 9001:2015 and ISO EN 13485:2016.
Our kits are also registered with the relevant regulatory authorities in Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria and Mozambique, with countries being added on an ongoing basis.
Lasec® is currently in the process of obtaining certification in the European Conformity Standard, Directive 93/42/EC for medical devices.
