Copan SRK® Environmental Surface & Equipment Swab Rinse Kits
The Copan SRK® (Swab Rinse Kit) range is a comprehensive, tailor-made collection system for detecting environmental microbial contamination across food production, pharmaceutical, and hospital environments. Inspectors and Quality Assurance personnel use SRK® kits for routine surface monitoring of manufacturing areas, hospital surfaces, and equipment.
Swabbing reaches hard-to-access and uneven surfaces that contact plates cannot sample effectively, improving recovery and release of collected material while avoiding agar residue on the sampled surface. Each kit pairs a sampling probe with a neutralizing or enrichment medium selected for the target organism and surface type.
Where sanitising agents are in routine use, surviving micro-organisms are often present at low counts and difficult to detect. SRK® isotonic transport solution neutralises residual sanitising agents on the sampled surface at the point of collection, giving a clearer picture of the environment's true microbial status.

Performance in Use
SRK® has supported Legionella pneumophila culture with strong viability retention after 72 hours at 2–8 °C and after 48 hours at room temperature. Molecular detection by RT-PCR identified Legionella pneumophila DNA at 0, 24, and 48 hours at room temperature, and at 0, 24, 48, and 72 hours at 2–8 °C. SRK® kits have also supported RT-PCR-based analysis of viral contamination on plastic, painted wood, and metal hospital surfaces, alongside bacterial contamination testing by culture and RT-PCR.
