Next-generation dried microsampling for remote urine collection
The Capitainer®DIP70 is a quantitative urine microsampling card developed to support remote sample collection. The card automatically meters and stores two volume-defined urine samples in a dried format, which allows the sample to be sent by regular mail while limiting microbial growth and degradation of analytes during transport.
The format is intended to support healthcare providers, researchers, and laboratories that need to offer accurate, easy-to-use at-home urine sampling to patients and study participants.
Capitainer's microsampling technology automatically meters and stores an exact sample volume in a protected, pre-cut paper disc. For the Capitainer®DIP70, this is applied to quantitative urine sampling: the card collects two volume-defined samples, dries them, and stabilises the result for shipment to a laboratory through regular mail.

Q: What does the Capitainer®DIP70 collect?
A: It collects and stores two volume-defined urine samples of 70 µl each, in a dried format suitable for postal shipment.
Q: How is a sample collected?
A: The card is dipped into the urine sample, which automatically meters and stores the defined volume on the card.
Q: Can the sample be sent by regular mail?
A: Yes. The dried format is designed to fit standard envelopes and reduces the risk of microbial growth and analyte degradation during postal transport.
Q: How accurate is the Capitainer®DIP70?
A: The card achieves a precision of less than 6% volume coefficient of variation, with a relative bias of less than 5% compared with a reference method.
Q: What is the regulatory status of this product?
A: The Capitainer®DIP70 is a CE-IVD (IVDR) Class A product, registered under the IVD Regulation (EU) 2017/746.
