Paper-based drying and shipping pouch for Capitainer® sampling cards
The Capitainer® Drying Pouch is a paper-based pouch designed to provide good drying conditions and physical protection for Capitainer® sampling cards during return shipment to the laboratory. The pouch's paper construction promotes efficient evaporation of the collected sample during transit.
It is compatible with all available Capitainer® sampling cards and includes an easy-to-handle closing mechanism. For optimal drying, Capitainer recommends use with a paper-based envelope. Where air-tight shipping is required, the pouch can be combined with a desiccant.

The Drying Pouch is designed to sit between the sampling card and the outer envelope. Its paper-based construction allows water vapour from the collected sample to escape during transit, helping the blood or urine sample to dry completely before it reaches the laboratory. Capitainer recommends using the pouch inside a standard paper envelope to maintain this evaporation pathway.
Where analytes are sensitive to humidity or temperature, or where air-tight shipping is required or preferred, the pouch can be combined with a desiccant inside a sealed aluminium-coated plastic bag. The appropriate shipping approach for specific analytes should be validated by the responsible laboratory.
Capitainer's paper-based shipping method is designed to reduce waste and minimise the carbon footprint of sampling workflows. The Drying Pouch is designed to provide ventilation, efficient drying, and physical protection during postal return.

For analytes sensitive to humidity or temperature: consider storing sample cards in aluminium-coated plastic bags with a desiccant pouch. Validate the chosen approach for each analyte. Refer to the DBS literature for guidance.
