Pre-filled disposable containers, designed in compliance with EU regulations and made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), contain a 4% formaldehyde-based fixative for use in histology and cytology as a primary fixative. Above the layer of formalin, an inert liquid made from non-hazardous reagents preserves the characteristics of the formalin while protecting operators from its harmful fumes.
